The Art Behind Bijou Labs

Hello, I'm Anita Armstrong — the artist and one-woman studio behind Bijou Labs.

I've always believed that original art shouldn't be a luxury reserved for galleries and collectors. It should live where you live — on the walls of your home, your office, the small corner that's entirely yours. That belief is the heartbeat of everything I create.

My Creative Process

Every painting begins with a feeling. I work primarily in acrylics, drawn to the medium's vibrancy and the way it lets me layer color and texture until a piece takes on a life of its own. My work is intuitive — I rarely know exactly where a painting will go when I begin, and I've come to love that uncertainty. It keeps each piece honest.

Many of my paintings are inspired by the quiet moments: the way afternoon light falls across a room, the geometry of a city block, the memory of a place I've loved. I paint for small spaces — intimate canvases meant to be discovered up close, not admired from across a grand hall.

From those paintings, I also design a collection of silk scarves — wearable art that carries the same color stories and spirit as the originals. Each scarf is a way to bring a piece of the studio into your everyday life.

Bijou means jewel — something small, precious, and carefully made. That's exactly what I set out to create: art that is original, affordable, and made with genuine care.
